Can My 4 Stroke 125 Sound Good

I've been t*ssing up whether to buy a loud 'performance' muffler for my bike, but I'm not so sure whether it could sound good. I know its not going to sound like a big bike, but with a loud exhaust, is there any chance it won't sound like a little kid's dirtbike? Is there any specific direction I should head when looking for a muffler?

I know some of your advice will be to save up for a bigger bike, but I won't be upgrading for quite a while, and I'm just curious... Thanks

my friend has one, it just sounds like an angry lawnmower with a drug addiction problem. Doesn't sound good at all imo. Doesn't sound as bad as my mates "GP can" on his RS125 though.

You can get a 125cc 4 stroke to sound quite good but the exhaust note/tone and general sound has a lot to do with what valve timing etc you are using. The higher the state of tune, the "racier" the exhaust will be.A std 125 road engine with a pipe will never sound like a CRF.
BTW: They do make 4 stroke motocross bikes.

I had a scorpion can on my CBR and always had alot of positive comments. However ive heard Yamaha R125's with the stubby leo vince etc. and they sound gash so its definitely a case of finding a pipe that sounds good for the bike. The scorpion was big enough to be nice and deep so id recommend it. always enjoyed riding with it on and it definitely alerts people to your presence . Dont buy new though it isnt worth it. find a cheap one on ebay or something.

Thanks for the answers guys. I'm thinking of just looking for a cheap(ish) end can drom ebay to slip on to the standard pipe. I'd go for a branded one though, i think it'd be the best bet.
I've looked for 125cc mufflers and they are either much more expensive than say a '600cc compatible' one or they are the non branded type. I know I'm not going to get any performance gain with a new can, but would one for a bigger bike take away some power?

Also, for the guys who have spoken from experience, how much have you spent on your system?
Thanks again
