she works fine and revs over the red line in 1st up to 3rd kick it into 4th and get to about 62 @ 9/10000 rpm but thats all shes got shift up again and the revs start dropping

ive cleaned the carb out and my dad (ex machanic) has looked over it and said its fine
its not runnin 2 rich spark plug is a nice tan brown like it should be

PLZ HELP REALLY CONFUSED!!!!

is your ypvs working ok?
change your spark plug regardless.
tell us how it goes, and ill have a think if there could be owt else

sounds like its the powervalve not opening when it should. check the connections on the servo and make sure that the cables haven't stretched or snapped

could be a german 4dl i know they can be restricted......

yeah i thought that it might be restricted via the cdi but that wouldnt explain the lack of power in 5th the revs start dropping along with the speed it shuld rev to the max but just not go as fast if it was the cdi. its a fookin strange problem
and i know the engine isnt restricted in anyway

can any1 post a pic of the power valve with the casing took off as my mate reckons it mite be fitted wrong says he had simular probs with his tzr
only been on the road a week lol 1st bike so dunno that much really

it could be that the servo is f*cked, iirc the 4dl servo has the control box built in, say if water got in there and messed up the electronics it wouldnt open it properly. test it by pegging the powervalve fully open, the bike will run like sh*t under 7000rpm (or there abouts) but then it will pick up and you will be flying.

you should still check the cables to see if they have streached, ALSO! when you turn the ignition on, can you hear the whirr of the powervalve opening then closing before you start the bike?

have you checked the filter thats built into the carb? it may not be letting the carb fill with fuel quick enough! also when mine wouldn't pull over 9k i had to raise the clip on the needle one notch as it was running rich at 3/4 throttle!( checking the plug without doing a plug chop will only show the mixture strength at tick over ).
is it miss firing when it gets to 9-10k??

it dont smoke much and the power valve is fine the rings are fine cos my old man checked them

well did it used to go faster???

as i sed try openeing the valve fully manually and go for a blast, if its still at 60 then its probably restriced, like the german (i think) ones

has the gearing been changed? has the powervalve been put in the wrong way?as blackbird said,try disconecting the powervalve servo and turning the valve to full open.it will be well underpowered in the low revs, but when you get it reved up, it will f**king shift.if it doesnt, we have to think along different lines.for example,electronics, which i will admit,aint my strong point, i get easily bamboozled by wires and electricity.try what we have said above,then get back to us mate.

how did you check rings mate ? , best way is a compresion test , also apart from servo the only other thing really electronic which could be causing this may be the coil breaking down try testing it mate

just a quick thought, its quite unlikely, but your clutch isnt slipping is it? if it is, it would allow you to get into top gear before it slowly starts gripping,and would then bog down.it is highly unlikely, and i dont want to insult your inteligence,with something so simple, but you should always check all avenues

power valve works fine rings are fine aswell new rings and rebore bout 600-700 miles ago

has any1 got the part no. for the cdi?
to be fair the CDI if it was foooked it wouldnt run properly or start at all..

have you checked the speedo drive??

that could be fooked.

or the speedo itself...

if you tryed everythign else are you sure it has a 4dl engine???
