I have a 1991 NSR125FL which was originally imported from Italy. My CDI is different to both of those you have listed - mine does not have the extra green/white wire. I replaced the unit a couple of years ago as my bike was popping and misfiring. I picked up a CDI from a guy on here, but it was a UK spec CDI (with the green/white wire) and it simply refused to even start. I then picked up another CDI the same as my original and it cured the problem. Any ideas if my CDI has a restiction in there?
My bike reaches about 85mph pretty effortlessly, but 6th gear is basically an overdrive. The bike will rev-out in all gears including 5th, but 6th gear doesnt do anything at all, the speed drops off if anything.
There are no restrictors in either the exhaust or intake as I have checked these when I rebuilt the engine. I'm now wondering if my CDI or powervalve may have a restriction somewhere.
I'm thinking about stripping the bike down over the next few weeks and give it a good clean. Might even paint the Alcast frame another colour - metallic gunmetal grey? The half-fairing will be coming off and sprayed also, just not sure on which colour scheme to choose.
and one last question - Do you know if the Headlight bulbs are the same for both Alcast and foxeye models? My bulb has blown so will be needing a new one.
thanks,
