Anybody ever tried putting a bigger engine in a Sachs XTC. The guy who is currently doing a MOT for me thought it was a 400 bike or something. He took it for a spin and got bit of shock when it was only a 125 and had no power. But he said the bike looked beautiful and it?s got a brilliant frame and handles really well.

I should pass by direct access this year and to be honest I just love this bikes looks and any bike that can match it looks cost?s least 3-5k more. So I want to keep it especially because Sachs have gone bust so production will cease and these bikes were rare anyway and now productions stopped it will stay rare. Not many people know what they are; even friends of mine that have had bikes for years think it is a Ducatti or something when they look at it.

So once I have done my direct access I was thinking of dropping a bigger engine in it possibly a 400 or something. I was just wondering if anybody?s done on it here or is it possible to do?

mate forget inline fours i would say you could probualy squeze a v twin in there at a push (not sure never seen a sachs insides lol) or go for a big thumper single like the xt lump , take into consdertaion modifcations such as uprated brakes reinforcing the frame to take extra power etc it will all soon add up plus unless ure confident sdomeone to weld the new mounts up on your bike. alll in all mate i would say its your call but dont get the diea that itll be plane sailing.

anything is possible if you have the skills and throw enough money at it.

extra mounts were welded in had to do away with the under seat exhaust for a side one and altered the fairing for the kick start no electric one on the crm pricy but worth it
Hmmm, well done. As soon as you get it back pm me! I've been toying with a bigger engine for a while!

It's got to be a big 2 stroke engine into that frame. Like you said, if you can buy something you really want for ?3000-?5000, I'd just do that unless you have a lot, and I mean a lot of spare time, money and a good general know how with bikes.

Once you start changing a bike, other parts need to be changed that you didn't plan on changing. Then something doesn't look right so you change that too lol.

When I was looking for an engine for my CRGV 500, I looked at all the older enduro/trail 250 bikes with lighting coils like the CRM, KDX, RMX, YZWR but I decided the power on these things wasn't worth the hassle of changing them. Don't get me wrong, they are all good bikes for what they are intended for, but I decided that if you are going to make such a move, go big, so I bought the cr500 and haven't really looked back.

try and find yourself a tzr25 (3ma model i think)reverse cylinder.it has the exhaust coming out the back of the cylinders,so you should be able to keep your underseat pipe, and apparently the early xtc models used tzr125 engines, so it just seems right to go for this one
