I cut mine at work, it has to be a cutter that cuts yale, union, assa type keys.

Hi !

today i found out that its easy to pull of the grip from the original Cagiva ignition key. The grip has the Cagiva text and italian flag in it. it wasnt glued into place or anything like that, came of very easyly.

so this1 was just a tip to people who wanna get original look key (like i did), i purchased some original (scrap) keys from private cagiva parts seller and now i must only visit a locksmith and im back with original key look again

Just spoke to rob (Mito Mondo) he hasn't got any blanks, but he gave me the number of a place that will cut and post you out a key for £10.50 just tell them its a Ducati type key and give them the key/ barrel no. its not going to have Cagiva on it but it will work.

The number for them is

Keys Galore
020 7586 9741

there based in London.

hope that helps someone.

P.s. will let you know what it looks like when it turns up.

Cheers Si

probably they could but is it worth there time for a bike they'd struggle to sell for £600 with no docs?,
I still think there are descent people out there running honest businesses, if your that paranoid get a mate to order it on their card, delivered to their address then you aint got a problem, its still much quicker/easyier than ordering one of the fleebay Bulgaria specials and getting it cut.

also whats to stop someone looking at your bike and reading the barrel no. and then going to get a key cut? Bottom line never leave your bike secured with only the steering lock all it takes is a bored kid with a screw driver and its gone.

ps. any1 remeber the time recently when some1 here at forum told about making new (sticker based) "face" for ignition barrel ? he said that he made it with a Computer program that was for making sticker based labels for CD's.
i dont have the stuff and i would like to have a new "label"/"face" for my worn out C12R ignition barrel..

hi Markus

the grip can't be pulled off unfortunatly, the way which the metal is held in is different.

View attachment 4801

the key on the left is the new one, genuine cagiva key on the right.

which manufacturer makes the locks for cagiva? perhaps they will be able to supply the original spec keys

cheers

Hi !

thx for the latest info with that photo, now i understand why the "grip" cannot be pulled of.

im going to use the ignition barrel serial number for making a new keys and then swopping the "grips".. Seems like the only hassle is to find a place that makes Ducati keys in Finland...
