Strange thing, my clutch just aint disengaging properly. Fire it up (first kick) pull in the clutch, whack it into first, it jumps forwards and stalls. great.

so i thought, streched clutch cable, as you would. Bought a new one, same problem. THought, f*ck this, started it, jumped on . . pushed, whacked in to first and went hare arsing down the road, round the block, came back again.

sit in first, ticking over no worries, clutch wasent dragging or anything. perfect. Switched it off, switched it on, started it, put it into first and it was still working as it should be.

Problem solved i thought.

Untill i go in the garage 10mins ago, start it, and not to my comlete suprise, when i put it in gear it stalled.

so. WHAT THE f*ck?

is my question.

my gamma did this when the engine was cold it would drag and when put in2 1st it would stall/jump and when hot its ok. i found on mine it was the adjuster under my engine case. turned it in abit and its fine all round now. have u tryed the adjusters as u have one on the lever i never did that one theres usally 1 on the bottom end off it some were try that 1. if it still does it then it could be worn plates

Umm... Last time I had a problem like that, I noticed the spring on my engine end wasn't where it should be. There's a little bit that the end of the spring goes into, which is actually made of plastic, and mine had snapped, leaving just enough lip for the clutch spring as long as you didn't touch it!

im not quite sure i follow on that, i know what you'r talking about.

ive tried adjusting it out with the cable, its not the cable. I fell it might be sticking springs, perhaps once i change the oil and ride it more regulary it wont be a problem.

I have just sold my old fizzy (for almost trice what i paid for it, HELL YER) so ive got a few buns for the TZR

any other thoughts?

OK,

Trying to make it easier to understand...

Where your cable attaches to the clutch itself, there's a little arm, which is spring-loaded. The spring on that metal arm has one end attached to the arm, and the other end attached to a little point on the engine. The spring relies on that point being intact for it to be properly loaded. My spring slipped out of it's location point because the plastic that held it in had broken.

i was a little stumped at this, so i got the good old haines out,i am ruling out a spring problem, cos the symptoms dissappear when warm.it reckons that if your gearbox oil is deteriorated,it can cause hevy deposits to stick to your plates, which the way you described it makes sense, as when it gets warm, said deposits will "melt" and free off the clutch

if the bikes been stood for a while the clutch plates may have stuck together, when mine did this i put it in neutral with the engine off , ran along and then dropped it in gear to free them up! if you take the cluch plates out you might see that there's marks on the smooth plates where the friction plates have stuck to them, these take a bit of use to wear off.

well, ive changed the oil and run it, about an hour or so ago. had to push it and drop a gear but it was fine after that.

just went and tried again and its not sticking, so hopefully thats that. If not then at least i know what the problem is.

Wow, that's gotta hurt!

Hrmm, anyone know if there are tail tidies for the TZR? Just to make it look a little prettier?

what does the arse end of your TZR look like then, i dont imagine a tail tide would make alot of difference on mine, just move the idicator mountings about an inch further back.

edit: if you do want/need one, ally, a vice, a hack saw and a hammer and your well away.

I was thinking of a smaller lower profile number plate holder... Mine's f00kin' huge! Possibly removing the lip from the sides of it too... Maybe even getting rid of those back indicators and possibly getting an AIO unit similar to the one i'm about to buy for my CBR...

Mine has the number plate much lower down, a reflector above it, and incidentally, my tail light is a lot smaller - instead of it sticking out like that, it's pretty much flush.
