There are basically 3 different models of the RGv250. The first model is the VJ21 (K/L models). It has 2 stage powervalves but they were prone to breaking and dropping into the engine although they are probably better than the later VJ22. The VJ21 is the lightest of the rgvs. It has an 18" rear wheel although a 17" from the Vj22 fits with the spacers. The bike is probably the peakiest of the bikes. Pic below:
The next model was the VJ22 (m/n/p/r/s/t) All these models are essentially the same bike. The main changes to the VJ21 were upside down forks, 17" rear wheel, 3 stage powervalves, different bodywork and extra weight! The M and N model had banana swinging arms while the later bikes had the braced swinging arm. The M model had a wider rear seat and the smaller 4mm pins in the powervalves that caused so much trouble. The front and rear subframes are steel on these. The P model onwards is basically the same bike with colour changes, they have 5mm rock and roll pins in the powervalves but this still didnt cure the problem.
The VJ23 sp is probably the best of the bikes but is not a very common sight on the road or track. The engine is a 70 degree v twin. It has electric start, lighter wheels, dry clutch as standard and a new type swinging arm. These bikes cured the problems with the powervalves.
