Just got a couple of issues i need u crazy people to help me with, firstly my fairing. The bottom left hand fairing on my gpr has started melting where its too close to the exhaust, is this a common problem or is it a design fault?? and seoncdly how often is everyone toppen up there 2 stroke, cos i must be getten through ?30 worth in a month! any help appreciated.

Ello matey,

I couldnt help you about the fairings as mine is the nude version, but im about the same with the 2t topping up. A full tank of 2t will last me about 2wks (going out every other day) then its getting pretty low (never empty) so i have to top it up and usealy using the last little bit of the 2t out of my bottle (Castrol TTS stuff ?11 900ml i think)

So in a bout a month im probely paying about ?20'odd for 2t. But there again it depends how you ride, if you thrash it everyday then you will go through 2t far quicker than if you ride around town doin 30mph.

I HIGHLY doubt that,

Lazy?


Either an R6 or a SV is what im aiming for -

a.) Sound miles better than 2t's
b.) Go faster than 2t's
c.) You dont have to spend ????'s on oil


I cant see any downsides personally

Well, Im pretty sure a 250 stroker with the rite rider on will won a 400. Maybe not oil, but you got other stuff like cams and sh*t, and servicing and rebuilds will be lot more expensive. Trust me. The R6 is an excpetion since it has just loads of top end, youll get bored of an SV. Ask most of the people on this forum if they could ahve their RS or Mito back, and nearly all of them will say yes. You mite like a bigger bike, but thats because youve got a Derbi, no offence but its hradly the best 125.

Standed can ok, but get a 'proper' can fitted and the SV sounds awsome!!

A 250 would prob give a 400 a run for its money, thats why im getting a 600


2t's are great for a first bike (first big bike etc), but after that period im just fooking bored of it. Ok the Derbi isnt 'that' quick, but its just the whole 2t thing im bored with. I just want a big 'meaty' 4t now

You're talking out your arse there son. I went from an RS to an SV. Personally, I think it sounds the dogs, but it's all down to personal preference I suppose, but I think we all know what the result of a poll between a stock RS125 and my stubby can'd SV sound off would be. Would be even more conslusive if we swapped my bike for Sam's thousand. I for one wouldn't have my RS back at all, the thigns handle terribly on normal roads. On flat roads yeah, great, they keep their corner speed like nothing else, but what about a single bump? Sends you skipping all over the shop. SV however, with it's budget suspension, goes nowhere. I fail to see how you think someone would get bored of a 75bhp bike and ask for their old 25bhp one back. I've had mien for over a year, and I am not even being close to bored yet.

a) 2t with a race pipe sounds better than any r6 or sv650
b)my 2t 250 would give an sv650 a hard time in a strait line. i concede the r6 would be quicker. thats when the rg500 with some porting comes into its own though. that would ruin an r6.
c)you dont have to spend as much on oil, but in knowing yuor saving that money you are also knowing you have a sh*t bike.

a 2t 250 wouldnt just give a 4t 400 a hard time, it would ruin it.

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.

An R6 and a SV for that matter sounds MILES better than a 'tinny' 2t.
I would love to see you up against an SV (umm wonder what Matt's up to
), he would kill you on the stright and round the bends. Same with anyone on an R6 too (hopefully me some time soon)...

trust me.........they dont, theyre just the easier option to live with. Id rather have a f**king light 2t with 2x the power of something the same size and just use that for weekend, i find id get so much more satisfaction on that everyday instead of riding my 400 to a from work each day. 4ts are good, but i just dont get the thrill i got off of riding a 2t, and now im just craving for a 2502t sometime soon. I like the fact that u gotta work them to get anywhere, and they look the f**king sex, better than any 4t.
