They dot have a use other than to show you the gear your in. Its your choice. You could get one to work, but they don't do alot, other than look cool. Waste of money IMO

I'm pretty sure that the bike is'nt going into 5th, hence the gear indicator just to check

So if anyone has added one to there bike or can recommend one that would be great and thank you again sameshoz

Why not go for a ride?

And find a straight road, and just do it in your head, and count the gears you go through.

I did I get to 4th then move up to 5th and it doesnt seem to do anything. so I'm either not getting 5th or missing a lower gear. Or I just cant count

@ Gav2k

So I can just order the Acumen DG8 Digital Gear Indicator and the Speedo Cable Upgrade Kit for DG8
from 4-motorcycles.co.uk? (Sorry if it sounds stupid but I'm just making sure)

How many miles has your bike done. Seems unlikely that a gearbox would just fail like that for no apparent reason.

The gear indicator wouldnt tell you if your in 5th or not, Because you afto train it and seing as tho you "cant " get into 5th, you wouldnt be able to train it to learn what 5th gear is.

Also, when you go up a gear, the revs go down and then climb again (assuming your accelerating). Does it not do it when you go to 5th. Are you sure it has enough power to actually drive it in 5th??

put your bike on a paddock stand and do it manually. top the bike out in each gear and test the top speed. if you do it to the redline there should be a speed difference in 4th n 5th obviously.
Is that safe? The wheel would be spinning very very fast LOL

yeah its safe. heavy tool box on the stand and a zip tie each side round the bobbin and hook so it dont vibrate off if ya rear wheel balance is wank and away u go. no point covering the front brake if its gonna go it'll go.

i dont personally sit on the bike as it would exceed my stand limit by a few kg's i stand to the left side. rev the bike and clutchless shift up through the box, then back down. you can get over 120mph outta the rs on a stand lol
Errr how can you say you get 120.......if the front wheel is at a standstill........
