Dont see why not. I would buy the dt just because the mtx 125 is rare and some parts might be hard to get hold of
same thoughts as chadz really

theirs nothing in it with them performance or build wise just yam parts are loads easier
The dt was bigger than I expected so you should be ok I would have thought. I'm on tip toes when I sit on mine lol
I'm 6'2 ish and was fine on my DT. Could put both feet flat on the floor and theres plenty room once your moving with your feet on the pegs.
I'm 5'9ish and can ride my TTR250 easy and thats higher than the DT.
I've got an mtx 125 and the parts are ok to get hold of to be honest, similar performance to the dt but the mtx has no powervalve as it wasn't fitted with honda's ATAC system.

Must have no low down power then I take it?
The low ends quite good just doesn't really have a powerband higher up the rev range as there is nothing to give it that boost, almost rides a little bit like a four stroke, as in that there's power all the way throgh but no major hit at the top end.

mtx 125 doesn't have a power valve at all the mtx 200 had an ATAC system but didn't work very well anyway the 125 just has the empty vertical chamber and the horizontal chamber is blanked off, very few foreign import mtx 125's may have had an ATAC system fitted after purchase but they were very rare and they are like rocking horse s**t to find now. Go find out the right details then come back.

Dt everytime mate , couldnt do to much to the mtx , there dull imho
I've had both, well x3 DT-R's and x1 MTX-R says it all really....

When I had my MTX my mates DT-LC mk3 used to spank it every where - they are the slowest of the Jap trail bikes.

Look for a CRM125 if you want a Honda thats nippy, engines based on the NSR125R

i own a 83 mtx 125 and it has power valuves lol its got the same head as the 200 that has the atac system.
i was looking at a dt but chose the mtx as its so much fun only problem is it only likes fast all the time haha mine has the perfromance exhauset front and rear, race reeds and has been upjetted. im not going to like it can b a handful but its a fantastic bike i just want it to have a lil better top end without the loss of bottom end and without blowing it all the time. IDEAS ??? thanks matt
