generally one of the things you can do to tune a 2 stroke is to raise the compression, by milling a fraction off the head,,but obviously if you take too much off, the piston will hit the head, resulting in catastrophic engine failure,so a cheap easy fix is an extra gasket.but this may raise it up to more than standard,so if you can get hold of a standard head, do so and get rid of the extra gasket.

yeh coz wen i started d bike first, it sounded abit low on d compression(VERY QUIET) BY the way, the bike had a recent recon; new pistons+rings rebore, recon'd crank and new main bearings. or is the standard tzr usually quiet at low revs?

you want to look for a book on 2 stroke tuning by A.Graham Bell.it is a really in depth book, that gives you tips on how you can make the engine go better with out specifically tuning it.it has all the numbers in, and because the tzr engine is so widely used, it does give recomendations based on the tzr sometimes.

it is an excellent read, but i had to read it 3-4 times, before any of it started sinking in.it even gives you the equasions you need to design your own exhaust!

yes, my mate talks bout that quite often, two stroke tuning is like freakin rocket science though, it takes a while to grasp the general idea!

Ive never read it, i should really. As for making your own exhaust, if you wanna get the best of your bike send it to Taffs in Newport wales and get an exhaust custom built for your bike, awesome.
