I tried to start my bike for the first time in two months with no luck. After having a search/read on here I checked for spark (good), checked compression (180PSI good), I had already replaced my air filter so that was ok, so I pulled off the carburetor and the little mesh fuel filter was really dirty so I?ve found my problem, I just need to give it all a good clean. I also have a fuel filter before this so it obviously wasn?t doing its job and needs replacing.
I have a few questions:
How can I tell what size jets are fitted to my carburetor? Do they have anything written on them or can I measure them somehow?
I want to make sure all my hoses are hooked up correctly from the carburetor as I don?t trust the guy I bought it off. What connects to ?A? and ?B?, does the hose I have marked in Red return to the tank and is the hose I have marked in Yellow just a breather?
There is also a spot for a hose to go just on top of the gearbox underneath where the carburetor sits, is this just a breather?

It?s almost ready for a road worthy; I just need to work out why my dash lights aren?t working.

Your jets are stamped with the size in the top of the jet.

A is oil pipe point, B is overflow point, red tube goes under the airbox and leads out to the RHS footpeg through the loop at the back of the engine with the other drain pipes, yellow is your petrol delivery pipe to the carb from the petrol tank.

Thats from memory but should be correct.

Check the positions of the jets and take them out and replace them one by one and write the numbers donw and cross reference them against the ones on the diagram, a spreadsheet would help.

Hi !

You might have 4 breather pipes total in you PHBH Dellorto (at least in PHBH 28rd model). 3 coming from carb and 1 from Float chamber bottom. Be sure that the bottom 1 breaths well and aint blocked ever, infact all the breather pipes need to breath good.

make sure that the little 2-stroke oil feed pipe is fastened properly to carb and aint getting air into it. Need to fasten it with wire or summing like that (i dont know the name in english..)

......
Yes ! the engine (gear Box) has a breather tube located at top. underneath "the carb".

Here's what I have in my carburetor

I was told that my engine was a racing engine imported from Italy, but I'm not sure what is so special about it, but the carburetor set up is a little different, looks like it was from an evo with some changes.
I'm thinking the air screw would be around 1 1/2 to 2 turns

Hi !

Very typical carb set-up in your chart. most of your listed jet's/parts are common with Mk1 '90-91 and '92-93 mk2 models (no Sp models)

Needle and Nozzle are slightly different against the usual stuff..smaller

Nice Turbo jet size

yep, 1,5~2 turns for the Air screw if it exists (my C12R PHBH 28 rd has it as complitely blocked by Dellorto factory)

Do you happen to know what Cylinder Kit you have in it + Ignition system ?? it would tell the truth about possible race engine set-up.......

Thanks for the help. It started first go, sounds like a beast

I think the ignition is standard, but I wouldn't really know. I don't know what cylinder kit it has, I guess I'll find out when it's time for new rings.

Now just to get these dash lights working and put it all back together.

Hi !

Can you show a photo from your Sparg Plug Coil , please, it would tell the truth about your whole ignition system !! you just need to lift up the petrol tank and take a photo

To find out your Cylinder code/Cylinder Head code, you only need to lift up the petrol tank and see what written onto cylinder..Easy.
look at "Cylinder" topic and "CagivaGezzer's" photos..

I would really like to know your set-up, because im collecting information like usual..

Here's a few pics for you

Hi !

Ok. thx.
defenitely a std Kokusan ignition system (no sp/r)
Cylinder Kit has been changed. swopped into a std '95, '98 Kit (no sp/r)

1 thing that i cannot see from your photos is the LH-side of the chassy. Im wondering that is the chassy a std model.. no steering damper fitment..?
Do you have a spot/screw hole for damber fittment in your chassy like in this one:
Look at the area on the chassy near the upper radiator hose..

The MK2 doesn't have a steering damper?..
Hi !

Mk2 racing '93 has a steering damper in it. it's location aint like EVO damper's..

So you dont have a damper, BUT is your chassy std model or '93 model ?
(if it would be racing '93 model, your mk2 would be totally stripped of from it's Sp parts. your Chassy would tell the truth after ignition parts that we have now seen..)

Im just curious because you have that "aluminium '93 label" in your mito !

Markus do you have any info on the steering damper fitted to the mk2? any pics? been thinking of how to do it for a while. any help greatly appreciated.
Hi !

i have the w.s.m photo of it. also i have a some other photo but not sure that is it original fittment..

I think that the Mk2 racing '93 steering damper can be easyly copyed by using aftermarket parts. 1 bracket/manifold is just needed to custom made..

But for a starters you "need" a chassy like showed in my previous message (if you wont wanna do a screw hole fittment into your std chassy after words..)
example photo about genuine chassy...http://www.members.lycos.nl/yagiva/yagiva/yordys%20site%2016.jpg

thanks

different to the way i was going to run it i was going to try and fit it underneath the frame instead of on the side but i never thought of the room inside the fairing as there is easily enough to mount it on the side.

thanks again for your help.

sorry to hijack thread lads
