Honda Mtx 125 Italian

Hi

MTX engine (for UK models) was closely related to the MBX125 engine. The NS is a related engine but quite different. Doubt much from the UK MTX would fit into the NS engine, or your MTX.

i could have had one of these, my dad bought one and road it with the intention of giving it to me for my 17th but i bought a ts125x
i think it was a 84 model or somewhere close, reg was NOT 66IY i think. was tatty but quite rapid acceleration. i do not think my dad really had any problems with it, how much did you pay ?

Y reg would be 1982/83. Would be a VERY early MTX to be Y reg, and would use the MBX related engine.

Hi Its an italian import so chassis and panels are completley different and its deffo ns125F engine as the gears are 1 up 5 down as the mtx frame doesnt have the linkage.

And its geared for offroad but it is nippy to 65 then sort flats out due to gearing but will wheelie all day.

If it is 1 up 5 down then it has probably had a 2nd hand NS engine fitted. I would be VERY surprised if Honda produced a standard bike with a gear change that way round.

Yeah Kickstart thats my thoughts exactly i think its be put in there i stripped it down today and although the frame mounts look like they havent been vut and welded on there is the chance that the frame is home made as well as i have never seen a frame on a MTX125 like this?
Also i am after a piston kit for it and Dave silver said that he cant get any for it as they arent around any more so if i order a pattern part they arent listed in their alphabetical size and i called wemoto up and he said that they only sell a standard 56.00mm bore piston (although made in Europe) and he said that no one has complained yet and they seold 30 odd of them.
So should i order that one?

From vague memory the MBX (and MTX) and NS engines shared engine mounts in the same position, although with different spacers. Never tried this, but was told this many years ago when both were pretty common bikes.

As to the piston, doesn't sound like you have much choice.
