hiya peeps, im new to the forum although i have had an xtc for 9 months.

Had an idea for more power, i was thinkin of makin the downpipes a bit wider (bigger), fitting a micron race can from a SV650 and fittin larger main jets in the carb.

Any ideas on what kinda power difference ill gain if any?

cheers

already have a k&n style filter, u dnt think the can is a bit too big being for a 650 then? or am i better off gutting the original?
Also has any1 thought of makin a custom numba plate bracket to hold it just next to the rear wheel?

cheers

Welcome mate, i've got a micron race can of a Duke 916, i've also widen half of the downpipe since my last service, like wannamod said just make sure you set it up on a dyno as changing the main jetts is a bit tricky, mine now is 107.5. If you are going to widen the pipes you might have to do the same thing as me and thats move the battery. Good luck...

i have already moved my battery, did you gain any noticable change in power? as i dont want to do all this if i dont (waste of time), also do you know if the rear sprocket of a rs125 fits the sachs, will be well handy if it does.

cheers

mate micron dont make pipes for the duke lol , thats termoigis (not spelt nowhere near right i know lol ) but yes mate try a can from something smaller like maybe a 250 motard or something that way your still matianing a decent amount of back pressure also as wanna mod said filter as well as jeting get this right and it will be worth it but if you wanted to go further then maybe look into porting, skimming head , lighting flywheel, really this is just the begging if you wanna spend the dough then you have a lot of fun . wanna mod is that your little girl in the avatar how old is she now my little man is nearley 4 months now !!

Noticable power was not that great. I'll be honest you will only notice a little change. The most important thing is the noise the micron race can makes, it sounds messy!!! Top speed has increased a little. In regards to the sprocket i don't know if the rs125 one will fit. Where abouts do you live? Theres a mechanic in North London that is looking into finding a sprocket that fits the Sachs, gaining 5-10mph top speed but this will add on another 5-10secs in reaching the top speed.

Hmmm if you read what i wrote, its states its off a Duke 916, and its a race can. It wasn't built for the Duke it just come off, of it.

ant you f*ckin mad manc. he asked for info on an xtc. not for you to tell him to buy another bike. fuk off. and the XTC does 85 not 65 so you obviosly have no idea what your talking about.

as for the downpipes mate its a good idea. you wont gain anythin in the bhp. if any it will only be 1 or 2 bhp from a free flowing pipe. what you will find is a smoother rise through the gears and less flat spots.

now the main jets are a good idea but you would need to upgrade your airfilter and because its a floating carb you will need to make brackets to hold the new filter. you could try and modify the existing one but i dont think there is much you could do with it.

the way it works are if your bike sfarts better it needs to breathe better and if it breathes better it needs to have the right amount of fuel.

if your willing o spend some money on your bike then good luck to ya. make sure you get it on a dyno jet and see what fuel ratio you need so you can pick the right carb jet.
Only way XTC will do 85 is if you drop it out of a plane PMSL

Oh wait theres no difference between 75 mph and 85 mph is there??? Read then post...

LOL 90mph my fooking arse, most rs's only get 100ish, 2x the power, same/less weight, amazing aerodynamics...then theres the xtc, aerodynamics like a brick wall, slow revving single
well i'm not lying! the actual reading was 143kph i believe which is very close to 90mph as i say its only the indicated speed alot of derestricted RS's can indicate 110+ on the speedo
and i dont see why you think an RS has a better drag coefficiant its a bulkier bike!
