If it's anything like mine it'll be a 'rook' design nut. The socket for this can only be bought from Honda, and has its own specific part number (which is given in the Haynes manual). it's basically a four-pronged socket. I didn't get one after searching every hardware and bike shop in Manchester, and used a hammer and a flat-bladed screwdriver to get it off and on in the end, but this is obviously not advisable!

Also, make sure the bike's in 1st gear and put the rear brake on as Brian said.

I removed my rear wheel before changing the clutch so couldnt put the brake on...still have an open crankcase actually

I taught its a lock nut 24x20 for the nsr,no? I asked one of the mechanics where I used to work in a subaru garage and he said he has it at him... He could be mistaken... I must call down to him actually and get it done
