I doubt it would make good power.

The dimensions are probably quite different.

Check the expansion chamber for a rough guide, the more similar they are the better your chances.

TBH i wouldn't even bother looking.

well you would need a fair bit of modding and i dont see any reason as to why you would want to do this. even when modded to fit, the expansion chamber would be desgined for the original design of the whole pipe. you altering it would change the effects of it.

When people design the pipe, bends, lengths and expansion chamber they need to use some deep-sh*t mathematics, if your asking you haven't got a prayer of replicating that, sorry but i cant see it.

I?ve just been looking at my exhaust options and I can?t find an aftermarket one in Australia so I thought as there are some available for the RS then maybe it could be modified. Maybe I?ll just have to buy one from over seas. Is it worth getting an after market one I should I just derestrict mine?
Would the mufflers fit?

To put it bluntly, your wasting your time.

Get a mito exhaust or derestrict your own.

No difference between a 3rd party exhaust or a standard cagiva one except the 3rd party exhaust will be more top end tuned.

It'd work, but you'd need to know the following to work out just how well it would:

Length of expansion chambers
Exhaust duration of cylinders
Header length and internal diameter

If the abover are about the same the pipe would work. Measuring the length ofthe expansion chamber and comparing it againts std chambers would give you an idea of what rev range it's tuned for.

That's the actual pipe dynamics covered, then you're left with the simple things like exhaust header angle and stinger placement.

Side note - We got an old expansion chamber from an TS50. Cut it up (was an up and over style), done some basic calculations from Bell's book and rewelded it as a belly pipe and fitted it to a RS50. Doubled the top speed of the RS.

Download this (7MB) pdf and read the exhaust section, then you'll understand why pipes are built how they are.

I'd say that a RS125 pipe on an Mito 125 would work better than any Mito 125 pipe on a Mito 160.

Thanks for that. I do have a good understanding of engineering as I'm a boiler maker and a mechanical engineer by trade, so I should be able to nut some stuff out. But new to bikes and 2-strokes (well petrol 2-strokes anyhow).

seems like a pointless excerise to me which will offer no good result, best bet would be to pm asianard in the nsr section, he can put you in contact with jolly moto directally and you could get a exhaust shipped to you directally from the jolly moto factory in italy.

Recently i noticed that my powervalve wasnt cutting in till about 10-11000 rpm, so i ordered a new powervalve controll box and now the bike only does about 70mph, it revs all the way though to the red line in gears 1-4 but when i get into gear 5 it wont go above 8000 rpm, the powervalve works in all of the other gears but jus not when i get in2 5th, 6th or 7th. Before i put the new box on the bike would do about 90-95 mph. Ne ideas ?

Fairly new to 2 strokes so its confusing me.

but the powervalve works fine in the other gears so it cnt be too dirty to work surely ? if i do clean it do i need new gaskets? do i need my head off ? what if the new powervalve controll box was off of a different year mito would that matter ?
