Hi there I am new to this forum, I just brought a dt125r 1999 model few weeks ago for ?600 here is my baby lol View attachment 3562

As you can see over the last few weeks i have done quite a lot of mods to it, here is a list of things i have added:
- New renthal handlebars
- New dtr grips
- New ufo hand guards
- New DEP end can (i hope to get the dep down pipe, looking on ebay for 1 lol)
- New hawk alarm to keep the little **** away, also a almax ?180 chain around a lamppost (should do the job)
- New goodbrige brake lines (still 2 fit)
- Nice big air horn
- Top end re-build
- Re-spray
etc

I do have a few questions to ask tho, I think the jets in the carp are still standard. Where can i buy new bigger jets sizes (270) from??? and where is the best place to buy some good quality on/off road tyers for a good price???

If memory serves, they run the same carb as the later ones so your main jet should be about a 240. If you're upjetting, a 260 should be fine. I ran a 260 on mine with derestricted and slightly modified airbox with full DEP.

Oh kl but where is the best place to buy a 260 jet? is it something you can just buy for any dirt bike and they will fit?

Should be able to get them from most bike shops. Just tell them you need a 260 main jet to fit a Mikuni TM28 carb.

Make sure you rip off the airbox restrictor before you do or it will probably run a bit rough. Have you managed to get a front pipe yet? Fitting a 260 works best once you've got the full system and taken the restrictor off the airbox.

Hi I haven?t taken off the snorkel yet because some people say it works, others say you end up losing power. I am still looking on ebay for a second hand front DEP pipe but they are quite rare. I have taken the reed switch out of the clock, that?s about it so far. Once I have done the mods is it easy the get the carb mixture right? Because I don?t what to end up burning a hole in my piston.

The deal with the snorkel is that you'll effectively lose a very small amount of low end torque but when the powervalve opens the extra air allows the engine to kick harder. The reason they use that is to keep the noise levels low and restrict the power so that it passes inspection and is learner legal.

Getting the mixture right afterwards is pretty simple. Just play about with main jets until you get it spot on.

Very nice mate! She's a minter for ?600.

Is the powervalve fitted? You should be able to hear it when you turn on the ignition.

GET A DEP if you can! It'll change that bike into something else! Used to have a 2000 W Reg Black DTR a few years back. Loved her!

I have won the aution for the full DEP system on ebay for ?127 in mint condition. hope to get this by tuesday i will send some pics of it on the bike. As i have to DEP end cans i will be selling the other one on ebay next week.

Here is my DEP system off ebay




One thing i have noticed about the down pipe is a dent near the section it comes out the barrel, is this suppost to be there as it is quite cloes to the frame of the bike?



Its on the right

I will be selling the end pipe on ebay this week as i have two now so if any one is intrested leave me a post and i will send the item number to you
