New fairings.

Just about to paint the new unpainted oem fairings. But I cant figure out how the elastic nut on the lower front fairings should be. Does anyone have a picture, or can tell how the elastic nut should be fastened? Should it just be loose on the back side, or should it go thru the holde, so it stays in place? Part 10 and 11 on pic.

It needs to go through the hole so as to create a seal between the to two fairings, this in turn keeps the rubber nut in place.
I have tried, but I cant get it thru the hole. The hole in the fairing is also rectangular. Does anyone have a picture?
Can you squeeze the captured nut out the rounded part then pop it back in after you push the flared part through ,if not a pair of pointy nosed plyers and some lube .to pull it through.
best way is to pull it backwards. ie, not to try to push the whole nut true, but just push the lips in so they get through.

personally I never liked the original solution and have used bigger set of screws and rubber bungs.
Have tried everything, its impossible. A pic og a oem fairing with the nut would help.
I'm not sure how to help unfortunately but where did you get the new fairings from? Looking for a new set myself.

Bought them at a shop in Norway. They had left overs in stock. They still have some. Søk
