Sighter? What the f*ck?

Your in the Cape Town area, how will buying in pounds over the net help you?

I mean, it's going to cost you double or triple the price. Order one from your Honda dealer or local bike shop.

Look through the Bike SA and get shops that sell the CBR150. It should be compatible.

WAAAAAHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY

Do you know of any after-market starter motors?

And Stuart! Calm the beans! Sighter didnt mention anything about Pounds! just a price!

The starter motor doesnt need to be replaced completely as it has servicable parts inside so replacing the faulty parts instead could cut down on the price.

Aye, a lot of people tend to go with repairing theirs instead of replacing it. Either way, it ain't cheap!

Don't NEED a starter motor... just bump start it...

ok i jus got hold of honda dealers an they want to charge me R4700/ 335 pound for a new starter motor, if any one in SA that knws were i can it for lets say ALOT CHEAPER pls let me knw
Secondhand - thats it. You won't find any cheaper brand new. Starter Motors are high ampage 12v motors, and they don't come cheap and never have, other than from scrapyards off broken bikes.

Find a motor rewind service in your area... should be plenty of companies who can do it - will be MUCH cheaper to take your starter motor in and get it rewound or brushes replaced (depending what exactly is wrong with it) than to replace it.

I assume you're 100% sure it's a faulty starter motor and not faulty electrics or something else?

yip an my dad phoned other place an they said that i could by a crashed cbr for R7000 rand/ 500 pounds

@ abc, ya i was looking for spares jus for the starter motor but they hole motor is f*cked there was oil an petrol in it an the brushers are eating away, the motor inside is also f*cked, my dad thinks that well i was riding that the brushers an the starter motor where touching the a bit of the copper piece inside the starter motor, so that has been like eating away... so the whole starter motor is FOOKED, an when i bumped it when the starter was not working i got like 130km out of my bike an when the starter motor was working i only got like 100km or 110km an the odd 115km out of the bike so ya... wat diff well a aftermarket one make on performance wise or wont it do anything?

Hey Guys (My beans have clamed down) ;-)

I just phoned Honda Centurion here in Pretoria. They quoted me R856.23 excluding vat for a starter motor.

It will take two weeks delivery as they don't have stock on the shelves right now but they can order one.

Let me know if you want me to order it and courier it to you? Maybe pay Honda directly and I will pick it up and arrange the courier side of things.

???

hey its cul me an my dad send the hole day fixing the starter motor, we replaced the brushers an cleaned it out but thx anyway... i still dnt knw why they charge u R800 for a starter motor an charge me R4700, i think they got confused between a motor an starter motor
but any way my bike is up an runnimg again
... jus one question, when the starter was not working i bumped the bike an went for a ride an i got like 130km/80mph out of it an when we fixed the starter i only got like 115km/71mph out of it, could it be that the brushes r still touching the copper part inside the motor or wat b cuz my dad said that can slow u down like 20km/12mph, jus a thought

Doubt it as the starter motor should have a clutch mechanisam to engage it to the engine to turn it over, then when you let go of the starter button it disengages.
