Ill start at the begining. My 3pc2 needed new piston and rings, but did start and run.
Then suddenly it wouldnt spark after buying many new pieces found that the wires to the pickup coil were snapped, i have resoldered them back together and now i have a spark. I changed piston and rings with new ones and replaced top gasket but used sealent for the barrel to engine gasket. I have cleaned the carb out and replaced the zorst gasket with a copper one. She still sparks but wont start no matter how hard i try.
Petrol is getting to the head cos its on my spark plug. Just wondering could the gaskets be leaking? i am tired of pulling apart and rebuilding top end at the moment and gaskets are expensive. I really cant see what the problem is. If tzrfreak would like to come and look and see im willing to pay the petrol.I am off work next week so thats fine. Its really doing my head in.Compression seems lower than before, im assuming the gaskets are leaking.any advice greatly welcome

Did you check the other bits I quoted you on the chatroom?

Air filter - check to make sure it's not blocked.

Low compression - can be caused by worn main bearings and seals.

You said you had brand new piston rings on there. They aren't sticking at all, are they? That will cause it...

Try smearing a little twopoke oil around in there...

it has been done before, and it is easy to do,but i know of a guy who put the piston in back to front.

also change your sparkplug, always buy an extra one.they are very fickle in tzr's and have been known to last only a couple of days.seriously, change your plug, than come back to us.

have you tried bump starting it?or just kicking it?it can be difficult to start a bike after a rebuild.

if you have tried bumping it already, try turning the fuel and ignition off and pushing it up the road a few times, let it settle for a few minutes, turn the fuel and ignition back on, and try and bump it again

let us know how it goes

have tried new plug its just as clean as last one it has petrol on it probably from where i am trying to start it.it is sparking fine. i just cant see where the problem lies. it has fuel going in and a spark has compression so why wont it start? getting to point where am ready to get rid of.

Too much fuel? Did you check the air filter and so on as I suggested?

Failing that, get it to a local mech and get 'em to have a look?

DJ your the leccy specilist here, probably a stupid question this but here goes. If the engine kill switch is OFF will the bike still spark or not. Im assuming the kill switch stops the CDI from ignition. Air filter is clean, im just gonna have to strip it and find if new rings are sticking in the piston or not. run totally out of ideas

If the kill switch is set to OFF, it grounds the spark, before it can spark. The current that would normally create a spark bypasses the plug and returns to earth elsewhere. The same is true for the key switch. If either one of these is OFF, then you shouldn't be able to start the bike.

Watch out for dodgy wires though, as any shorting of the kill switch wires or ignition wires will prevent you getting any spark at all...
