Has anyone replaced their rear shock with something more adjustable/high performance?

I've heard rumors that CBR-600 shocks work, or that you can use 748 shocks... To be honest, all of these sound sketchy, and I want to know more details about the success or failure of changing the shock.

One thing I know about changing the shock is that shocks are adjustable, but only so much so. At some point you will be unable to compensate for the differences in design - so it's hard to believe a 400lb CBR-600 has a shock that would work very well for a 250lb Mito 125.

Let me know what you have heard (if there are some details there) or done yourself.

I know, what the hell do i do with high and low speed compression though! lol
Fiddle with it, spend hours playing with it and then realise all you've done is make it feel like a stock shock!

it's on my list of things to do, the rear shock i want to be able to run it soft during the week for commuting then stiffen it up for the weekend. my spine is getting destroyed driving around Heathrow daily, the roads are shat.
