Rs 125 Shock Linkage - Bearing,seals,bolt Ans Spacer Sizes.

After searching the internet,i could not find any information on bearing and oil seal sizes to rebuild my shock linkage.

So i decided to strip it,measure all the components and order the parts from various suppliers rather than paying for genuine Aprilia parts.

So here is a detailed list:When it comes to rebuilding your linkage,you can choose the parts you require to rebuild yours.
As i stripped mine down,i found all the seals and only one bearing needed replacing but i decided to overhaul the complete unit.

There are 5 bolts on the shock linkage - i used stainless steel allen cap bolts,nyloc nuts and washers.All of which can be purchased from www.boltmeup.com very cheap and very quick delivery.

M12 X 85
M10 X 125 (need to purchase m10 x 130 and shorten the thread)
M10 X 80
M10 X 75
M8 X 50

1 X M12 NYLOC NUT
3 X M10 NYLOC NUT
1 X M8 NYLOC NUT

2 X M12 WASHER
6 X M10 WASHER
2 X M8 WASHER

Next is the sleeves/spacers that the bolts pass through.There are 4 of these which cost a fortune from Aprilia.You can get these machined from mild steel then case hardened.Spacer sizes AFTER case hardening are as follows.

LENGTH O.D I.D

24MM 18MM 8MM
74MM 18MM 10MM
49.85MM 18MM 10MM
49.85MM 18MM 12MM

Next are the oil seals.There are 6 seals in total and there all the same size.

24mm O.D x 18mm I.D x 3mm Width

Last of all the bearings.There are 3 bearings in the standard rocker.

1 off hk1812 - 24mm O.D X 18mm I.D x 12mm Width
2 off hk1816 - 24mm O.D x 18mm I.D X 16mm Width ( plus another 2 to convert to a 5 bearing rocker )

There is room to make this a 5 bearing rocker which will make it more stable buy fitting another 2 hk1816 along side the standard bearings.It's totally upto the individual wether to do this.

Here is a photo of my finished rocker: INA oil seals,torrington bearings,New stainless bolts,nuts,washers,used the oem spacers.Cost me around £30 all in.

thanks for that.......you can double up on the swing arm bearing to for better location too.

Oh really?Well ive not looked at the swingarm,as mine dosn't have any play at the moment.But when the time comes i shall remember what you said and double up on bearings either side.

just checked my swing arm pivot bearing size.....

inner dia 22mm

outer dia 28mm

width 20mm (or 16mm the ebay seller is selling)

2 x bearings each side will fit for better location and strength

HK2220 or HK2216

Whereabouts are these ones located? Had a quick look but its not obvious to me.

Also just doing bearings in my linkage as they were rusted solid. Had to get hammer and vice to get the pins out, when they came out little piles of rust followed!

This is a pic of one of them after i took the seals off and gave it a spray with cleaner

So after removing all the bearings I have the holes/housing a bit of a sand down with some wet and dry then tidied the outside first of all with a dremil (for the gouges) then again with wed and dry so it looks a bit better.

Here are all the new bearings and seals ready to go in the fresher looking shock linkage

Ill update with new pictures when they are all in place.

the swing arm is 47mm wide for the bearing

aprilia only put one in for profit reasons.......

Had to do this on my Rx, aprilia prices are wrong
