Smartcarb, interesting alternative

673 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Mitoreborn
Found an independent test at YT about the Smartcarb, didn't even know it existed. Promises more fuel economy, more power and self-adaptation to altitude, plus "jetting" is easily done manually with a knob. It's quite expensive though! But it could be a really nice addition to a Mito, be it standard or with a big Polini or tuned. Comes in 25,28,36 and 40mm and apparently only on premix, as it is initially conceived for dirt bikes.

Nice on advertisement, and most YT videos are sponsored (haven't found one in such high favor from "neutral").
Their costumer support is par non existing and will cost you a lot to do the initial setup since they don't have a setup for bikes that are not popular :) (you will need 3-4-5 needles to get it dialed in and each is expensive)

there is guy with one on a Mito here on forum: SmartCarb - SC2 Smart Carburettor on a Mito or Raptor

You are a walking encyclopedia Remy! Thanks for the link, pity the thread died, was curious as to how it resulted.
Spent way to much time with these bikes. Where everybody moved on to bigger ones I stuck with the little engine :)

如果有人可以购买并进行测试,那就太好了!

I tried a smart carb2 28mm on my cagiva blues engine. it's very similar to a MiTo engine but no power valve, I run it with a stock MiTo exhaust and MiTo cdi. Smart carb was easy to set up but no noticeable power gains and used slightly more fuel, I have heard similar results from the scooter fraternity. If I went leaner on the mixture it would get hotter than I like to run it at. I switched back to a 30mm pwk copy which seems to be a good cheap carb for the cagiva blues engine. When I bought the smart carb they were only available in two body sizes with 28mm being the biggest of the smaller body. 30mm and above has bigger body so bear that in mind if you are tight for space.
Was it only on premix still? I guess it should be easy to drill an inlet for the oil line anyway. It's one of the things that stopped me from looking more into this, small change in performance and fuel use, I do not care much about, but the premix is a bummer for me, never liked it. Also, can you tell how you bought it and how they preconfigured it for you?
