Jus a word of warning really people, stacked it big dis morning, front brake seized, bike fell from underneath me and led to me hitting my head on the wheels of a moving articulated lorry, technically, i should be dead. (but only have a big hole in my left knee).

Basically jus maken sure dat your all wearing your protective gear no matter what the weather, cos i sure as hell know that i wouldnt be here now if it werent for my helmet, boots and jacket.

Ride safe, Have fun.

Did the front brake just seize on after you pulled it? And hence sent it sliding / you over the handle bars?

Was the front wheel still locked afterwards?

right jus to answer a few things, it was a moving lorry, which if i had fallen off a slite second earlier would have actually run over my head instead of my head hitting the rim, secondly my bike threw me off due to the fact that my front brakes have been locking for the last 2 weeks, took it to the garage and they gave it "the all clear" and refused to belive there was anything wrong even after a test drive. so me thinkking mer, cant be anything wrong if a mehcanic ses so, led to the imminent let down when the break pads completely die and completely seize in the wet, the garage i got the bike from are now currently licking my arse so i dont sew them for that and the many other ridiculous probelms ive had with my GPsh*t.

quite frankly im ****** off, now i have no bike and a hole in my knee so i have to walk like a wanka. time for a car i think.

Peace

Tell the garage this is not the first incident of this model having a seizing brake and Derbi ARE AWARE of this problem. I know a kid who it happened to and they paid for all repairs, so get your garage to ask Derbi for full repairs, if they refuse or claim ignorance remind them they already have paid out for one seizing brake (as a goodwill gesture mind you, there is no proof in these cases)

In fairness to the mechanic, on this problem you really can't tell either way, we used to fully strip and clean the calipers 110% due to I know the back one grinds a lot but even after it happened to this kid (no prior problems either) It was checked over and no problems afterwards could be found, so you can't blame your mechanic really, but he can do this with Derbi for you at the very least

My front brake seized on me aswell while overtaking traffic just the other day, sent me flying into the path of a bus which luckily stopped in time. Dislocated and fractured bones in my right hand, as for the bike scratched fairings on the right side and damaged the rear brake pedal.

Any1 knw how i can go about claiming the repairs off derbi.

The brakes don't randomly seize by themselves... you do actually have to pull the lever first and it just sticks

A: Don't think about claiming for injuries as you can't prove it wasn't just a stone getting stuck so don't have a leg to stand on

B: Derbi dont have to pay out, it's called a good will gesture and you have no right to a claim so don't think you WILL get paid

Besides that, I've already mentioned what to do earlier
