Hi guys im looking for some advice, ive recently bought a gilera gfr 1993/4 and was wondering if you know of any other bikes that have the same or similar parts on them....for example carbs, bearings, cables bits like that.

The bike i have bought has no plastics with it only the fuel tank so its never going to be a original restoration, but i would like to make sure i can keep it in mechanically sound condition. as for fairings im gonna find a nice match size wise from another bike and make brackets and nips to hang it all off.

any advice suggestions are welcome, ive owned rs af1 nsr rg in the past and from memory id say rs and af1 pats are most likely to work?

Surely these bikes share many parts??????

Thanks in advance

The carb is a fairly standard Dellorto and jets etc. are available from Eurocarb. Bearings can often be matched by measuring dimensions and ordering from Simply Bearings or similar. Cables might, but Venhill will be able to repair (I just had a GFR speedo cable done). I doubt they share much else except some brake components. The forks are Paoili so some scope there. Switchgear and light units are generic.

There was a place in Germany doing replacement fairings but I think the owner died recently.

Bob Wright is the main UK source of parts nut PJE list some engine components.

Thanks that a great help already, once ive stripped it down to see what can be saved and what needs changing the list shall begin, the bike does run although poorly and its been stood for the past 8 years so ive no doubt some cables and bearings will want replacing. i wanted a cx but this will do for now and for only £100 im not complaining to much. thanks again...i'll post some pictures just for the crack as the project goes along.

This is gonna sound like a stupid one but whats the purpose of the oil tank on the fuel tank if you know what i mean, ive never come across this before, there are no pipes other than the one coming from the fuel tap so how does the oil get to the oil pump? im sure its blaringly obvious or theres bits of mine missing.

Is it just a dummy tank and should there be a oil tank under the petrol tank somewhere?

In my defence i have only had chance to look at this bike in the dark so cant trace pipes and where they go

Hi

Cables you can probably make up replacements if required. Venhill do a kit to make cables, and if you need a few that is probably by far the cheapest way.

The carb is a 32mm flat slide Dellorto, very similar to the one used on the Italian built TZR125 and a smaller version of the ones fitted to the early RS125.

Not sure if GRP bodywork is available

All the best

Katy
