it comes p**sing out a breather / overflow pipe
i've checked the head gasket and also checked water pump both are fine and there are no blockages anywhere just bought a new radiator cap and fitted that but still doint it
if anyone has got any idea what so ever it could be plz post

i know you said you checked it mate, but you wouldnt always see anything wrong with a blown head gasket.replace it anyway.an air lock does sound liikely, for the temp shooting up, but wouldnt really blow a sh*t load of water out.sniff the water thats in the radiator.if it smells of petrol or oil,or just plain odd, then you have a blown gasket or oil seal.if not you may have a blockage somewhere before the water pump and after the rad.if this still doesnt uncover a problem come back to us with a few more symptoms/descriptions and we'll see what we can do

ah, good idea.try removing the thermostat, and see if it makes any difference.be carefull not to bust the gasket when you take the housing off.might be worth geting a top end gasket set,to be on the safe side,

Just read this topic...

I had the exact same thing 2 weeks ago....temp guage was about 3/4 way up...and suddenly noticed water squirting from the coolant tank!

I have no idea what happened, but it hasnt gone anywhere near 1/2 on the temp guage since......

The engine is being cooled properly, and there is still enough water in the rad and expansion tank...Couldnt understand it...

2 questions I have thought of:

1 - Do you think that I had an airlock in my rad, and it budged on its own

2 - Where abouts on the temp guage should the needle be when the engine has been running for 1 hour?

Thanks!

needle could be anywhere from half to 3/4,depending on your riding at that time, butwhen it starts creeping towards red you have an issue!

That's odd... My tzr's needle NEVER went above halfway. Even in the middle of the summer when I was sat in a queue to get into a bike show having ridden an hour or two to get there!!!
