i have purchased a mito 125 2005 it was all good before i had to go on a urgent leave to see my ill dad abroad, and i had left the country for 2 weeks, i had told my brother inlaw to keep on starting my bike for atleast 5 mins until it gets to the normal temperature (60) and now

i come back and took it for a test drive at 1st it wouldnt idle, dashboard lights were off, no green n (neutral) light was on none of em were working until i realised someone shoved the gears upto 6 and a half, i had ran straight back in and gripped my brother inlaw shouting in his face and he just simply didnt admit anything so now im pi**ed off i took it for a test ride it was all good for a few moments until it start losing power and then after that it just wouldnt start recovered it home which cost ÂŁ75, its f****d up on me i recently had an angine rebuild so it hopefully shouldnt be that ive tried starting it the yellow/gold bell was clicking found out it was a solenoid so i purchased a new one and now it doesnt completely start, i am not mechanically minded in anyway all i need is her to start up again and get this boredom out of the way cause i hate sitting in buses and cars it doesnt give me a thrill at all, i need my bike back!!! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!! If anyone needs any more info then get back to me and i'll give you more info straight away. I thank you in advance. Just please help!!!

3 things you always have 2 check: does it spark, does it get fuel, and compression.
Did you tell him to regularly start it cause it wasnt run-in yet? Than compression might be the problem if yr mate doesnt know what he's doing.
Starter relais and CDI unit are also always a mito weakpoint iirc
Yr battery still ok?
Does it jumpstart?

sorry mate i know this might be annoying but like i said i aint mechanically minded how do i check if there is a spark? i know how the fuel gets through cause i pulled off the fuel line to investigate what it was and POOF!!! petrol in my face lol. and once again im sorry i dont know how to check compression so please help on them two. I told him to keep on starting it so she can stay healthy so by the time i come back she'll be running fine, correct me if im wrong is the starter relay that little black box that has 4 gold things coming out from the bottom? and whats the cdi? My battery it seems okay horn doesnt sound as usual and lights do go dim after a few mins, jumpstart you mean like jump cables? from car to my bike? if yes then no i havent tried but will do soon. once again sorry for my unmechanical mind.

Choke: forward, to front wheel is off iirc.Backwards is on.
Test plug: remove it, reattach plugcable, hold the large part of the plug(where the tool goes onto) against the frame or anything metal and start. It should spark well.A bad spark isnt good enough
Compressiontest, you need compression tester.
Battery you cán measure output I think, but there are also test devices for it

But if you loose power and it than stops running, makes me suspect compression.
Is it already run in or not??

Does it start when you jump start it?

Sounds like a simple flat battery to me. Charge it up with a motorcycle battery charger.

quick question... Why did you want the bike to be started at all if you were going away for only 2weeks? much better plan is to leave it alone with maybe the battery on an optimate, but even the battery should stay good for 2wks without charge unless you have an alarm/problem?

having your bike started but not ridden when the engine is supposed to be being run in will be no good for it, starting a bike off its battery and not riding it will drain the battery as you'll not be putting enough charge back into it, running an engine will cause condensation to build up in its exhaust if it doesn't get hot enough which when left will rot your pipe from the inside out and running a 2stroke below temp will not burn as efficiently the 2stroke oil which will then clog up the powervalve and exhaust ports, foul up the spark plug.... I am going on a bit I guess but I just trying to get across the point that running an engine for the sake of running an engine is generally bad.

If you were say a submariner and vanished under the waves for 3-4 months then I'd suggest putting the bike on paddock stands, plugging it in to an optimate or better still remove the battery, drain the carb and possibly tank and cover the bike to protect it from spiders and dust lol, but for 2weeks I'd park it, lock it and forget about it until I got home again.

Charge your battery fully or replace it if it is rubbish and see where you are from there. Maybe remove and clean your spark plug too while you wait for the battery.

Oh and your brother may well have followed your instructions to the letter so give him a break unless he has admitted to doing stuff wrong lol :D

Yes. Charge the battery first, go buy a motorcycle battery charger as a car one will be way too powerful.

Have you tried bump starting it?

1) Get a charger because you're going to need one if you've got a mito

2) Clean / Change the spark plug if you haven't already (YOU SHOULD HAVE) - The spark plug is under the fuel tank on the top of the cylinder head covered by the plug cap, your bike should have come with a tool kit that has a thing that'll take the plug off. Give it a clean with some sand paper check it sparks when u start the bike and throw it back in

3) Bump start the bike - put it into gear with the clutch held in then push it and let the clutch out whilst the back wheel is spinning and your bum is on the seat (you should know this already)

IF THE BIKE STILL FAILS TO START: (By this point we've established that you have spark so you need to find your compression and check for petrol)
1) Take the plug back out and put some petrol down into the cylinder, put it back on and try to fire it up again

2) If that fails, you may be looking at compression (maybe it was rebuilt wrong) - Buy a compression tester OR 'in my opinion strictly' if you put the bike in gear from standstill on a soft surface (like my kitchen floor lmao) and push it forward and the back wheel doesn't lock up, your compression may be pretty low.

If you do need a compression test, the minimum to start the bike should be over 100psi

no neibours around that can give you a quick jump off their car?
Hook it up turn the car ignition on but dont start and try and start your bike, should be able to get it to start almost instantly.
My mito dies all the bloody time if i leave it without the charger, i just bump it then drive round for a few hours to top the battery up.
It also dies quite often at night if ive gone on a long drive with the head lights on, when i stop and leave the bike for a few hours sometimes have to bump it to get it going. Think i really need a new battery :p.

Have you tried replacing the battery? Jakarta?! Yeah, I'd imagine its a bit harder to get parts! I don't know if other ignition parts will fit, but its worth having a look for parts under the names for any cagiva 125, so cagiva planet, cagiva raptor, mk1, mk2 and evo. should make your search a little bit bigger that way
