Hi - I'm in the middle of a restoration of an NS 125F and thought other NS owners might like to see some of the pictures. It's got an ATAC engine and I've photographed the internal ATAC mechanism as this is not covered in any manual I can find. Any questions give me a shout

Looks like a fair old project so good luck with it! Be good to see it back on the road again!

I always hankered after one with the ATAC engine but could never find one! Seemed they were mostly found on the MX's

Hi - Total cost is around ÂŁ100 to get both the frame and swinging arm bead blasted and powder coated. I had not used them before but would definitely recommend them and will use them again for my next project

Well that was a cold day ! - But I managed to get some more work done on the NS. I think that's everything done and ready for re-assembly now. I'm quite pleased with the way the additional body panels have sprayed up to very near the original colours. Also did quite a bit of work on the seat and have re-dyed it to Navy Blue which seems to have worked well. Also managed to get a brand new silencer off e-bay !

Today's pics are attached which show the frame in more detail now I have taken the bubble wrap off

I'm not Hondas' biggest fan but back in the day I did really like the look of the "F" with it's white/red/blue colours so much so that i've actually thought doing a resto myself..Fantastic resto you are doing,i hope you keep it if not make sure it does go to person who is 2 stroke sympathetic

Hi - I guess it really depends on what condition the original bearing surfaces are in. Mine were OK - so all I did was to replace the old ball bearings with new ones

[4.76mm (3/16inch) Precision High Quality Chrome Steel Loose Ball Bearings ( 130698474019 ) ] ÂŁ4.80 off e-bay

I think its something like 21 balls for each bearing

If your bearings are worn then I agree the tapered roller bearings are the best replacement

Happy New Year - and Good Luck with the restoration

Right Lads - that's her finished

Fairings all fitted

Brakes finally bled (after spending hours trying to clean out the smaller of the two holes in the Master Cylinder - what a pain)

Hopefully she will be on show at the MCN Scottish Bike Show at Ingliston in March if anyone is planning to go along

Last set of Photo's here >> http://classicsecosse.wordpress.com/ns125f/

Thanks to all for the positive feedback during the process..Much Appreciated !

Cheers

Pete

Turns out the clutch was sticking, so I had to drain the oil and coolant and strip the clutch basket. It was just that the pressure plates and the friction plates were stuck together in pairs - so had to dismantle, give them a good clean & oil + new gasket, new transmission oil and new anti freeze ..all now working fine

It was a bit of a pain really as I could easily have fixed it in 10 mins when I had the engine stripped - but the entire clutch basket and plates looked to be in perfect condition so I did not dismantle them. Lesson learned for the future !

Have posted a picture of the clutch side internals just in case it is of help as a reference to anyone in the future
